Starting a startup is quite hard. It's often described as "life or death," but it's really not. The hardest days of Reddit had nothing to do with our growth, or product, or anything at the business -- it was personal, it was painful, but it also imbued us with a sense of perspective that few 22 year olds have. I'll talk about how my world shattered a few months into starting Reddit and how it made all the difference (and still does to this day).
